1946 – 2022
It is with a heavy heart I have to inform you of the passing of Norman Hughes, NPRMS President.
Norman joined the club in 1976 as an enthusiastic new member and over the years became a stalwart of the club serving on the committee then chairman and finally our president. Norman was well known throughout the modelling community and none more so than the instigator of the Norman awards held annually at our club exhibition where unsuspecting club members and visiting members would be jovially roasted for mishaps throughout the years, an invitation to exhibit at Normanton show usually resulted in a “what I have done moment” as you were never safe. The awards along with the Saturday evening social, helped make us the must visit show as an exhibitor.
Norman was well known for the inventor of the dad joke.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and will leave a big unfillable void within our club.
Sincerest condolences to Nan, Nick and family at this sad time.
Rest in peace old friend.
